SigmaCV
Auto-generates clean, customizable academic CVs from open research data (OpenAlex, ORCID, Crossref, DataCite, Open Editors Plus) — free for individuals, open-source, FAIR by design.
Description
SigmaCV is a free, open-source web app that builds your academic CV for you,
straight from the public research record. You sign in with your ORCID iD and it
assembles a clean, ready-to-use CV from open databases — your publications and,
where available, your positions, education, funding, peer-review and editorial
roles. You curate it, pick a citation style, and export to PDF, Word, LaTeX, or
Markdown — or publish a living web page that keeps itself current.
What makes it different
- It builds itself. Start from a filled-in CV, not a blank page — works are
pulled automatically from OpenAlex, ORCID, Crossref, DataCite and more. - The right you. Your work is matched by persistent identifier (ORCID
iD / OpenAlex author ID), never by name string — avoiding the "someone else
with my name" mix-up that plagues name-based tools. - One canonical CV object drives every output format, so HTML, PDF, DOCX,
LaTeX and Markdown are always identical. Citations render through CSL. - Responsible metrics. Opt-in and off by default, favouring field-normalized
indicators over the h-index, aligned with DORA and the Barcelona Declaration. - FAIR by design. Open source (Apache-2.0), a published machine-readable CV
JSON Schema, and a citable software DOI.
Who it's for
Researchers and clinician-scientists at any career stage, plus the librarians
and research-office staff who help them — no technical skills needed to use it.
