Description

Space Environment Impact Modeling

A thesis project that quantifies how space objects (both orbital debris and operating satellites) affect the near-Earth space environment across three dimensions:

Orbital crowding and collision risk: which objects and altitude bands are the most dangerous?Diffuse night sky brightness: how much does the debris cloud scatter sunlight back to Earth?Telescope observation interference: how many satellite trails cross an astronomical instrument's field of view?

Each dimension is implemented as a standalone Python module, reproducing and extending peer-reviewed models and methods. A scenario testing layer wraps all three modules to evaluate possible interventions (debris removal, orbit changes, new constellations).
