Model and code underlying "Modelling Marine Sand Extraction Pit Evolution: Exploring Design Parameter Sensitivity and Cohesive Sediment Effects"

This repository contains the model as applied by Ploeg et al. (2026), and the graphical user interface built to post-process the results and gain an easy understanding of sand extraction pit evolution.

To reproduce the results from the paper, navigate to "Model/Outputs/O20250617_Paper2" and run all scripts consecutively. More details about the model and how to use it are included in the folder "Model/AA_Documentation".

To use the GUI to gain insight into the temporal evolution of extraction pits, navigate to "GUI" and run the script "run_GUI". Because this tool is only a post-processing of existing results, some example results are included in "GUI/UserData/Environments". To generate a new environment, one may use the script "GUI/CreateEnvironment".
