Description
This dataset contains the documented Python workflow accompanying the manuscript “Regional density-space volume budgets reveal spatially varying contributions to subpolar North Atlantic overturning”. The workflow includes a command-line package that derives the GLORYS12 native-grid barotropic streamfunction and staircase control volumes, calculates density-binned transports and Walin surface-transformation budgets, validates numerical consistency, and produces manuscript Figures 1 and 3–10 and Supplementary Figures S1–S2.
The archive includes the prepared GLORYS12 native horizontal-grid, vertical-grid and bathymetry stores required by the workflow, together with the OSNAP mooring geometry. The approximately 5-TB daily native-grid GLORYS12 archive for 1993–2024 is not redistributed; 'DATA.md' identifies the exact Mercator THREDDS collections, variables, spatial and temporal selection, and preparation conventions needed to reconstruct it. OSNAP inputs are documented using persistent identifiers and checksums. The Python 3.11+ implementation uses xarray, NumPy, SciPy, Dask, Matplotlib and related packages. Unless stated otherwise, quantities follow SI conventions.
