Recognising symbolism in Turkish television drama

The Turkish television series has yielded a highly profitable industry under the influence of Turkey’s current regime. This project aims to develop a method for the automated recognition of all occurrences of the star of David and of the Star and Crescent in first two seasons of popular Turkish drama series Payitaht: Abdülhamid, using algorithms in the field of computer vision. The results will contribute towards understanding of the social, cultural and political ramifications of Turkish state-supported television series.
