Multidisciplinary High-Throughput

Achieving Multidisciplinary High-Throughput, Quantitative Behavior Analysis with Advanced Computing and Networking Tools

This project seeks to find simple models for complex behaviors through a combination
of collecting large quantitative datasets and building models using various theoretical
approaches. Several people from different scientific backgrounds located at different
institutes are involved in the project and must share access to large datasets. The
existing infrastructure is strained by storage of the raw video data, hinders high-throughput analysis due to computational limitations, and prevents full collaboration
due to the difficulty of transferring large amounts of data between members of the
research group. This proposal seeks to solve these problems by offloading the storage
of the videos to the SARA facility, speeding up the data processing and analysis using
cloud computing, and using dynamic lightpaths to facilitate transferring of datasets
between locations.
